D’Angelo Russell is not staying with the Brooklyn Nets, nor is he becoming a Phoenix Sun. He will reportedly join the Golden State Warriors in a sign-and-trade deal.

Russell’s new deal will be worth $117 million over four years, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

He will join one of the most lethal three-point shooting backcourts in NBA history with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Thompson, a free agent as well, is expected to sign with the Warriors on a 5-year, $190 million contract.

The Warriors were effectively forced to trade 2017 NBA Finals MVP Andre Igoudala to the Memphis Grizzlies for draft picks to stay under the league salary cap limit of $109 million for the 2019 season.

The Warriors have represented the Western Conference in the NBA Finals for five consecutive seasons, winning three NBA titles in that time span.

Russell was linked to the Suns because of their need for a point guard and reports had surfaced that the Suns planned to “exhaust options” on the 2019 All-Star.

However, earlier in the day, the Suns picked up Ricky Rubio to fill their vacant point guard position.
