It’s over before it even started.

Thirty-eight-year-old three-point specialist Kyle Korver has been waived by the Phoenix Suns on Monday, a day after the team officially acquired him in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to the league’s transactions page.

The Suns acquired Korver and second-year point guard Jevon Carter in a deal that shipped Josh Jackson, De’Anthony Melton and two second round picks to Memphis. The trade was reported last Wednesday.

Korver had already been a piece in another trade this offseason which saw Mike Conley head to the Utah Jazz, sending Korver to the Grizzlies.

Last season in 54 games with the Jazz, Korver averaged 9.1 points and hit 38% from three-point range. Korver has played for five teams since entering the league in 2003. As a member of the Sixers, Hawks, Jazz, Bulls and Cavaliers, Korver provided a threat for opposing defenses from beyond the arc.

His best season as a starter came in 2014-15 as a member of the Hawks. Starting 75 games, Korver shot 49.2% from deep, averaging 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. For his efforts, Korver was named an NBA All-Star.

Among items left on the offseason to-do list, the Suns still await a resolution to forward Kelly Oubre Jr.’s restricted free agency and have yet to officially sign free agents Ricky Rubio and Frank Kaminsky.
