The Phoenix Suns announced on Thursday that rookie point guard Ty Jerome is out indefinitely due to a right ankle sprain.

Jerome suffered the injury during a practice on Monday and the team says he will be re-evaluated in two-to-four weeks.

He was seen at practice Thursday with a walking boot on.

Jerome, 22, was the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Suns traded a Milwaukee Bucks protected first-round pick to the Boston Celtics in exchange for that selection and center Aron Baynes.

In training camp at Flagstaff and the preseason, Jerome was one of the most-talked-about names from players and coaches. The rookie was impressing his peers with how quickly he was picking things up at the NBA level and his ability to make quick decisions in the Suns’ point-five style of offense.

Without Jerome in a win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, the Suns played Jevon Carter 18 minutes, and the second-year guard played well, with 11 points, a rebound, three assists and a block.
