After falling to UCLA 42-32 for a second straight loss, the Arizona State football team has been knocked out of the AP Top 25 ranking.

The Sun Devils held a spot on the ranking for six consecutive weeks, reaching No. 17 in week 8.

Defensive breakdowns were huge factors in the team’s loss to a UCLA team who was just 2-5, 2-2, entering the game.

The ASU defense allowed 217 total rushing yards, seven third-down conversions and three fourth-down conversions. They also gave up 47 yards on nine penalties.

UCLA also had control of the football for 17 minutes more than the Devils.

Despite the upset loss, freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels seemed to get his grove back after completing just four passes for 25 yards in a week nine loss against Utah just a week prior.

During Saturday’s contest, Daniels went 20-for-29 on pass attempts for a total of 271 yards and three touchdown passes. He also rushed for 67 yards, scoring a touchdown of his own.

Wide receiver Frank Darby had an impressive day with six catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his scores came in the fourth quarter.

Following the loss, ASU fell to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Pac-12.

The Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes are the only Pac-12 teams that remain in the AP ranking at No. 7 and No. 9, respectively.

LSU now holds the top spot, leaping Alabama. Ohio State remains at No. 3 followed by Clemson at No. 4.
