Rex Chapman is looking to spread masks and Phoenix Suns spirit while limiting the coronavirus.

Chapman, the former Suns guard and current social media powerhouse, announced Saturday on Twitter that his Rex Chapman COVID-19 Relief Fund will match up to $50,000 in donations to Phoenix Suns Charities to provide kids around the Valley with masks.

As some students are preparing to return to the classrooms, it remains as important as ever to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

“We’re gonna do some good here. We’re all in this together,” Chapman said in the video posted to Twitter. “It’s a team game.”

There have been 179,497 reported COVID-19 cases and 3,779 deaths as of Monday’s updated statistics, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

The positive rate for diagnostic PCR tests in Arizona, which indicates how much the virus is spreading, has been declining over recent weeks, but remains high at 12.6%. When Arizona’s stay-at-home order expired, that rate was down to 5%.

Chapman played 12 years in the NBA and spent 1996-2000 on the Suns.
