Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is paying the price for his words about Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker.

The NBA announced Sunday that Green would be fined $50,000 for his comments on TNT’s Inside the NBA on Friday about getting Booker out of Phoenix.

“It’s not good for him, it’s not good for his career … I need my man to go somewhere where he can play great basketball all the time and win,” Green said on the show Friday.

The Suns social media team didn’t let Green off the hook for his actions.

The team’s Twitter account posted a highlight reel of Devin Booker with the caption, “We’ve got at least 50(k) reasons why we love @DevinBook.”

Green’s comments raised eyebrows about the possibility of tampering, something that the NBA has attempted to crack down on since the start of the 2019-2020 season. The league’s also taken a stricter stance on salary cap circumvention and free agency timing rules.

Host Ernie Johnson asked Green if he was tampering after the comment. Green momentarily paused before saying, “Maybe,” and stuttering to an explanation.

Phoenix is currently 5-0 in the NBA bubble as they vie for a playoff spot.

The Suns are off Sunday but will be scoreboard watching with a tight race for the eighth seed. The Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs are narrowly ahead of Phoenix in the standings and have a chance to put a little distance between them with wins.
