Former Phoenix Suns big man Frank Kaminsky is moving on, signing a 1-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.

Kaminsky was signed by the Suns last offseason on a two-year, $10 million deal that had a team option on the second season. Phoenix declined that option, making Kaminsky an unrestricted free agent.

Due to a 25-game suspension for Deandre Ayton and injuries elsewhere, Kaminsky rarely got to play in the role Phoenix signed him for. He averaged 9.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game in 19.9 minutes a night, starting in 13 of his 39 games.

Kaminsky missed over two months of the season with a knee injury and returned to play for the team in Orlando’s bubble.

With the Suns drafting Maryland big man Jalen Smith 10th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, Smith figures to take some of the minutes Kaminsky had in the rotation last season as a combo 4/5 big.

Teams were legally allowed to begin speaking with free agents at 4 p.m. Friday, when a wave of reported signings came in. Official deals can be signed at 10 a.m. Sunday.
