Suns come out hot in the first quarter to defeat Spurs on the road

On Saturday the Phoenix Suns wasted no time setting the tone against the Spurs.

Phoenix came out the gates hot in San Antonio, as the outscored the Spurs by 17 points in the first quarter and led 34-17 to close out the first frame.

The Suns would go to defeat the Spurs by a score of 140-103. Devin Booker led all Suns players with 27 points in the victory.

Head coach Monty Williams also decided to rest his starters for the final quarter as the Suns were up by 39 points heading into the final minutes of the game.

As a team, the Suns shot an impressive 59.1% from the field and made 13 total baskets to close out the first quarter.

Phoenix was also able to capitalize in transition, as they scored 13 fast break points and made the Spurs turnover the ball five times.

Down in the post, the Suns put up 10 points in the paint and outrebounded San Antonio on the defensive end 12-9.

Shooting guard Devin Booker led the way for Phoenix as he made six of his eight shots to begin the game and ended the quarter with 14 points.

Forward Dario Šarić continued to fill in nicely for the injured Deandre Ayton as he closed out the first with four points and grabbed five boards.

Every single starter for Phoenix also made at least one basket to open the game.
