The Arizona Cardinals added to their wide receivers room on Friday, signing Antoine Wesley to a one-year deal.

The terms of the contract were not disclosed by the team.

The 6-foot-4, 206-pounder entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, spending the entire season on practice squad. Wesley, 23, missed all of 2020 after being placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder issue.

He adds a familiar face to the fold for head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

The wideout spent three seasons with Kingsbury at Texas Tech, including the head coach’s final year as a Red Raider before joining the Cardinals.

After making just 10 receptions in his first two seasons at Texas Tech, Wesley had an impressive 2018 where he caught 88 receptions (first in Big 12) for 1,410 yards (second in Big 12) and nine touchdowns. He appeared in 29 games (12 starts) during his time as a Red Raider.

He joins a crowded wide receivers room that features DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green and Christian Kirk. The Cardinals also added Rondale Moore in the second round of the NFL Draft and have 2019 picks Andy Isabella and KeeSean Johnson still on the roster.

The Cardinals are looking to improve their receiving contributions from a year prior, hence the additions of Green and Moore — especially with Larry Fitzgerald’s NFL future still very much up in the air.

Outside of Hopkins reeling in 115 passes for 1,407 yards, there was a significant drop-off in play among the rest of the team’s pass catchers. Kirk’s 48 receptions for 621 yards was No. 2 on the team, followed by a 438-yard, four-touchdown effort from tight end Dan Arnold, who is now in Carolina.

With Wesley’s signing, the Cardinals’ 90-man roster sits at 89.
