Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis is unlikely to play on Tuesday night in Game 5 vs. the Suns, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Head coach Frank Vogel said Monday an MRI confirmed Davis has a groin strain and is listed as questionable for Game 5.

During the second quarter in Game 4, Davis attacked the basket as he went up for a layup and awkwardly landed on his left leg. The Lakers big man stayed on the floor as he was holding his upper left leg and ultimately exited the game as he did not return for the second half in Sunday’s contest.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that he isn’t “hearing great optimism about the possibility of Anthony Davis playing in Game 5.”

“This is normally an injury that might take you at least a week to fully recover from if you were in the regular season,” Wojnarowski told ESPN. “We’re not in the regular season, the Lakers are 2-2 with the Suns.

“But there’s real concern about his availability against the Suns in this really really important playoff game,” Wojnarowski went on to add.

In the four playoff games vs. Phoenix, Davis is averaging 21.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 34.8 minutes of work.

Game 5 tips off in Phoenix on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Tune to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station for all the action.
