Cardinals’ Edmonds has front office aspirations post-NFL career

Recently dubbed “RB1,” the Arizona Cardinals’ Chase Edmonds said Friday that he hopes a front-office role is in his future.

Edmonds said on Arizona Sports’ Doug & Wolf show that his love for the game beyond the field comes from a love for Madden franchise and he hopes to have a job in football when he hangs up the cleats.

“I remember being a kid and doing madden franchise, I wouldn’t even play the season,” said Edmonds.

“I would just try and draft the perfect football team. What was the perfect team I could get lined up across the board? I don’t know why but it was something that always intrigued me. If the front office thing does not work out I would love to be an analyst.”

Edmonds said that work ethic and heart are something that can never be taken for granted.

He went on to show off his knowledge of the intricacies surrounding contracts when talking about his teammate Dennis Gardeck, one of three other players that join Edmonds remaining from the 2018 class.

“Someone with the biggest heart on our team is Dennis Gardeck,” Edmonds said.

“Just to see where Dennis is now, to sign a second-round tender, to see his work ethic and passion, every single role someone has for Dennis, whether it is lining up as an edge rusher on third down or being the special teams ace he is, I have no doubt in my mind that Dennis will get it done. You can see that from his passion his work ethic and his heart.”

Passion and heart are two of the driving causes for Edmonds to get better.

A fourth-round pick from Fordham in the 2018 draft, the running back knows he has to use his hunger to prove people wrong every day.

“Some people talk about ignoring the noise and there’s a time and a place,” he said.

“I like to ignore the noise when they are talking good about you. To stay humble and to stay hungry. I used that as motivation as a kid and still do to this day. I don’t run from it, I don’t shy from it, it made me into the player I am today.”
