Wing Abdel Nader and the Phoenix Suns agreed to a two-year, $4.2 million contract on Tuesday, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Nader joined the Suns this past season as part of the Chris Paul trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder. He appeared in 24 regular season games before he required arthroscopic knee surgery that kept him out from March 21 through June 26.

While the 27-year-old averaged 6.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in the regular season, hitting 49% of his overall shots and 42% from three-point range, the trust that Suns head coach Monty Williams had in him showed during the postseason.

Coming off his rehab from knee surgery, Nader returned in the heat of the Western Conference Finals and appeared in three games over that series and then two more during Phoenix’s NBA Finals loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Nader re-joins a wing group that includes Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder and Cam Johnson. He brings a unique slashing ability and athleticism to that group.

The Suns bring Nader back after losing a more physical forward, Torrey Craig, who has reportedly agreed to join the Indiana Pacers on a two-year, $10 million deal.

As free agency opened Monday, Phoenix has already agreed to re-sign Paul and backup guard Cam Payne, according to multiple reports. Additionally, the Suns have agreed to sign JaVale McGee as a reserve rim-protecting center.
