Arizona Cardinals tight end Zach Ertz is already giving back to the community in a big way, providing 5,000 meals to local Arizona food banks for every touchdown the team scores this season.

He added to that total in his Cardinals debut.

Ertz scored the longest touchdown of his career, a 47-yarder, in his first game with Arizona. It was one of his three catches that accounted for 66 receiving yards.

The Ertz Family Foundation is partnering with The Athletes’ Corner, a philanthropy-based company out of Phoenix, to launch the “Score More n’ Feed More” campaign.

The tight end’s philanthropy prides itself in three pillars of service: youth sports, education and family.

Although he’s new to Arizona, Ertz and his wife Julie, who went to high school in Mesa, continue to give back to the Philadelphia area. They announced plans earlier this month for the House of Hope Project, a home in north Philadelphia to help keep kids out of trouble.

The philanthropy has raised $500,000 for the cause but needs to gather $450,000 more to complete the project.

Fans were asked to donate $8.60 to No. 86’s foundation. The love and support for the tight end was evident, as fans have already raised more than $40,000 in response.
