The Arizona Cardinals elevated linebacker Tahir Whitehead and tight end David Wells to the active roster from the practice squad as standard elevations for Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Arizona previously brought up cornerback Kevin Peterson from the practice squad as a COVID-19 replacement on Friday. Linebacker Tanner Vallejo and defensive lineman Zach Kerr landed on the COVID list this week.

Whitehead has played 28 special teams snaps across two games this season for the Cardinals since signing to the practice squad on Nov. 2.

He took the field against the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears in Weeks 11 and 13, respectively. Vallejo was on injured reserve for both of those games, and Whitehead filled in.

Whitehead is a nine-year veteran and has played on four teams. He was a captain with the Carolina Panthers last season.

Wells also played in two games this year, in Weeks 9 and 17, respectively.

He had eight offensive snaps last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, a 25-22 win for Arizona.

Wells filled in for tight end Demetrius Harris, who was out last week with a shoulder injury. He is questionable for Sunday’s game.

The Cardinals’ regular season finale on Sunday kicks off at 2:25 p.m. from State Farm Stadium. You can tune in on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
