Free agent running back Chase Edmonds has agreed to a two-year, $12.6 million contract to join the Miami Dolphins on Monday, his agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Arizona’s fourth-round pick out of Fordham in 2018, Edmonds developed into a versatile and efficient option over his four-year career thus far.

His best season in terms of yards from scrimmage (903) came in 2021, when in 12 games he tallied 592 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per carry while adding 311 receiving yards.

While he for the first time in his career was the No. 1 back with 11 starts, Edmonds was second with 476 total snaps to fellow running back James Conner’s 598.

Conner, also a free agent, agreed Monday to re-join the Cardinals on a three-year deal. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported it is for $21 million that has $4.5 million in incentives with $13.5 million guaranteed.

The news on both players came as the legal tampering window opened on Monday at 9 a.m. Players can formally ink their contracts on Wednesday.

In Miami, Edmonds will play under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel, who got two looks a year at the former Arizona running back as run game coordinator and offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.

He joins a backfield led by the returning Myles Gaskin, who rushed for 612 yards on 3.5 yards per carry in 2021.
