D-backs select INF Matt Davidson from Reno, send down Corbin Martin

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced three roster moves on Thursday ahead of their matchup with the Washington Nationals.

Infielder Matt Davidson was selected from Triple-A Reno to the big league roster while Corbin Martin was optioned to the Nevada-based affiliate.

Additionally, the team designated pitcher Matt Peacock for assignment.

Davidson could add some much needed pop to a D-backs’ lineup that ranks last in batting average and third-to-last in runs scored to start off the season, despite blasting off for 11 runs on Wednesday against the Nationals.

Primarily a first and third baseman, Davidson leads all minor league hitters with eight home runs to start the year while boasting a .955 slugging percentage and 1.426 OPS.

His big league career consists of 31 games with the D-backs in 2013 when he hit .237 with 12 RBI.

Davidson has also had MLB stints with the Chicago White Sox from from 2016-18 and with the Cincinnati Reds in 2020.

Martin has appeared in just two games for Arizona this season totaling nine strikeouts in six inning pitched to go with a 3.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.

Peacock was designated for assignment after making two appearances this season.
