Arizona Diamondbacks rookie shortstop Geraldo Perdomo hit his first big league home run in Tuesday night’s 14-8 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

But it wasn’t just any ole’ dinger, it was a grand slam at Great American Ballpark following an hour-long rain delay — the second straight game between the two teams that was stopped due to weather.

And not only did Perdomo’s four-RBI swing break up the Reds’ shutout over the D-backs, but it also snapped Arizona’s 26-inning scoreless streak.

The Diamondbacks were shut out in Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Pirates in which the offense garnered a total of five hits off Pittsburgh pitching.

Arizona also struggled mightily in Monday’s 7-0 loss, which was declared an official game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning due to heavy rain.

The D-backs only mustered one hit in that contest on a bunt single from Daulton Varsho to lead off the game before Cincinnati starter Hunter Greene retired 20 consecutive batters.

Tuesday night’s ballgame wasn’t much better prior to the rain delay, as the D-backs managed just three hits before scoring five runs in the eighth on three hits, one walk and one hit by pitch.

Perdomo brought in another run on a single in the top of the ninth inning to bring his RBI total on the night to five.
