Phoenix Suns open Summer League schedule against Lakers

The Phoenix Suns’ next matchup is set for July 8 in Las Vegas during the NBA 2K23 Summer League.

The Suns will face the Los Angeles Lakers at 7 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the NBA announced on Monday.

The league runs from July 7-17 and all games will air live on ESPN networks or NBA TV.

Phoenix’s first four games of the summer were released Monday, and its other three matchups include the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings.

Their fifth is to be determined.

The teams with the best two records after four games will play in the Championship Game, while the other 28 teams will get new opponents.

Iffe Lundberg from Denmark plans to represent the Suns on their summer squad after signing a two-way deal with the team late last season, according to the Arizona Republic.

Belgian 21-year-old Vrenz Bleijenbergh announced on Twitter Sunday that he will also join the team after spending time with the Windy City Bulls, Chicago’s G League affiliate, in 2021-22.

The Suns do not have a selection in the 2022 NBA Draft on Thursday unless they make a move back in.

Their first-rounder belongs to the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the Chris Paul trade, while their second-round selection is held by the Indiana Pacers after the Torrey Craig for Jalen Smith deal.

Smith and Ty-Shon Alexander headlined the Suns’ Summer League team last year.

Phoenix has had future stars impress during the summer, including Devin Booker who scored 26 points per contest in two games in 2016.
