Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury would not leave the podium at the end of the team’s first preseason game without tendering support for San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan in his ongoing saga with the NFL regarding sideline apparel.

On Wednesday, Shanahan told San Francisco radio station KNBR’s “Murph and Mac” that he has “beef” with the NFL for not allowing him to wear his hat of choice after making famous his “Shanahat” that he wore through the 2020 season.

“I’ve seen they are trying to make him change and I just want to say, let my guy live,” Kingsbury said at the end of his press conference.

“He’s been one of the most swaggy coaches for his entire career on the sideline.”

The NFL is trying to make coaches wear newly approved hats instead of the older ones that Shanahan prefers.

Kingsbury says he understands the frustration.

“I’m not sure if you guys have seen the camouflage pattern they offer to us but it’s not doing it,” Kingsbury said.

Moral of the story, NFL coaches stick together.

Kingsbury concluded his press conference with a simple message.

“Kyle, I got you buddy.”
