Matthew Hulsizer wants to change Phoenix Coyotes culture

What does an investment firm and an NHL hockey team have in common? A lot if potential Phoenix Coyotes owner Matthew Hulsizer has his way.

See Hulsizer’s day job for the last 14 years has been as the owner of Peak 6, a Chicago Investment house. According the Phoenix Business Journal, Brad Goldberg, who is the CEO of Peak 6, will become the vice chairman of the Coyotes if Hulsizer takes control.

That’s not all though. Hulsizer is in search of a new team president and CEO who will buy into the culture Peak 6 promotes.

The job ad for a Coyotes president or CEO talks extensively about meshing with the culture Hulsizer and Just have created at Peak6 in Chicago.

“The CEO will work very closely with ownership to create a culture of innovation similar to what Peak6 enjoys,” the Coyotes job ad reads.

What exactly is Peak6’s culture that Hulsizer and his group hope to implement when they arrive in Glendale? According to the company’s website it’s one built on ‘speed, agility and innovation’.

Our culture is built on speed, agility, innovation, and the desire to teach and learn every day. We thrive on collaboration, innovation, execution, and the power of the big idea.

Will an investment house mentality work in the NHL? Who knows? One thing is clear though, it can’t be any worse than the ‘corporate culture’ that has surrounded the Coyotes since their arrival in the Valley back in 1996.
