Tuesday is Mikal Bridges Appreciation Day. Also, it’s the Phoenix Suns wing’s 26th birthday.

To celebrate, the Arizona Diamondbacks will host the Philadelphia native for their second game of a series against the Philadelphia Phillies at 6:40 p.m. Bridges will surely be rooting on Philly, but the local MLB club will be showing him love nonetheless.

That’s weird, yes. It’s happening because Bridges won a bet in June when those two baseball teams first squared off.

If the D-backs had won, Bridges would have attend an Arizona game decked out in Diamondbacks gear. But they did not.

The Phillies were victorious, and the D-backs losing that bet meant they would host a Mikal Bridges Appreciation Day.

So here we are.

Here’s how the team will help Bridges celebrate:

  • A personalized jersey given to Bridges
  • Bridges will watch the D-backs/Phillies batting practice, starting at 3:50 p.m.
  • He will throw out a ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.
  • Fun facts on display during the Phillies’ second at-bats.
  • An all-stadium “Happy Birthday” sing-along.
  • Bridges gets a birthday Churro Dog.
  • The D-backs’ Twitter and Instagram profile pictures will change for the game to a photo of Mikal Bridges.

Fans can still join in on the fun. The D-backs are offering two bleacher tickets for $25 using the offer code MIKAL at dbacks.com/singlegame.

And Bridges could use a pick-me-up from the Suns’ faithful.

The Diamondbacks’ first game of the series saw them fall behind the Phillies 7-0 through the top of the fourth frame before Arizona went on a basketball-like 13-0 run.
