Phoenix Suns forward Jae Crowder will not participate in training camp while he and the organization work on finding a trade, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Sunday.

The Suns confirmed that they and Crowder mutually agreed he will not be at training camp, which starts this week with Media Day on Monday.

Crowder, who was entering his third season with Phoenix, tweeted on Friday that he would not be at camp, but he quickly deleted the tweet.

He also posted a message about change on Sunday:

The 32-year-old played 80 games for the Suns last season — including the playoffs — and has one year left on a three-year deal. His cap hit for 2022-23 is $10,183,800.

Crowder was a key contributor to Phoenix’s run to the NBA Finals in 2020-21. He averaged 10.8 points on 38% shooting from deep in 22 playoff games that year. He scored 19 points with five rebounds in the closeout Game 6 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference Finals.

He has 107 playoff games under his belt.

Crowder’s name has been floated in trade talks this summer, Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported. The Suns had interest in trading for Kevin Durant and then Bojan Bogdanovic this offseason.
