Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul was ruled out for the rest of Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to right heel soreness.

In the mid-second quarter, Paul was navigating around a screen on defense when he appeared to injure that right foot. Paul hobbled off the right foot and limped back on offense for one possession before a stoppage in play had him subbed out.

After the 100-88 loss, Paul told AZCentral’s Duane Rankin that he could have played through the injury and confirmed it was about being cautious.

Paul said he’s not that worried about it.

Paul played 14 minutes and shot 1-of-1 from the field for two points to go with two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

It’s the second starter the Suns have lost to an injury in less than a week.

In Friday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, starting power forward Cam Johnson tore the meniscus in his right knee and will have surgery.

The Suns’ depth behind Paul is limited in what is arguably the shallowest position in the rotation.

Backup point guard Cam Payne is joined by just two-way guard Duane Washington Jr., who started playing point guard for the first time over the summer. Reserve guard Landry Shamet would surely see more minutes on the ball behind Payne and that would open the opportunity for wing Josh Okogie to enter the rotation.
