The Arizona Cardinals released backup running back Eno Benjamin on Monday, the team announced.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the move.

The running back posted a blue heart on Twitter just as the report surfaced.

The Cardinals now will turn to rookie Keaontay Ingram behind Conner. The other two backs who began the year on the roster, Darrel Williams and Jonathan Ward, remain on injured reserve.

Benjamin did not record a carry on Sunday as Arizona dropped the Los Angeles Rams to improve to 4-6 on the season, but he did appear on one offensive snap and four more on special teams.

A starter for three games, Benjamin in total this season rushed for 299 yards on 4.3 yards per carry with two rushing touchdowns. He had ascended to the backup running back spot behind James Conner in his third NFL season.

Benjamin added 24 catches for 184 receiving yards in 2022.

He played 19 games with Arizona over the past two seasons after sitting out the entirety of his rookie year in 2020.

The Arizona State product was a seventh-round pick (222nd overall) in the NFL Draft.

He played three years at ASU from 2017-19 and compiled 31 total touchdowns and 2,967 yards on the ground with a 5.0 yards-per-carry average in his college career.
