Former Phoenix Suns star Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested for misdemeanor battery after a domestic violence incident early Sunday morning in Miami, according to the Miami-Dade Corrections online inmate search.

The Miami Herald obtained an arrest report that stated Stoudemire struck his daughter multiple times and drew blood.

“The mother of the victim showed me the photo she received from her daughter, which shows the victim crying and blood running down her face.”

Stoudemire, 40, posted a celebratory Instagram post after graduating with a master’s degree from the University of Miami hours before getting booked.

He was later released on $1,500 bond with a no-contact order issued.

No attorney for Stoudemire is listed in court records.

Stoudemire was a first-round pick by the Suns in 2002 and played for Phoenix through the 2009-10 season. He was a five-time All-Star with the Suns before getting traded to the New York Knicks, where he played five years.

He finished his NBA career with one season each with the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, before playing in Israel. He retired in 2017.

He was an assistant coach on former Suns teammate Steve Nash’s staff with the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-22 but did not return to that role this season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
