Devin Booker will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks due to groin strain, per Suns

Devin Booker will miss the next four weeks and then be re-evaluated due to a groin injury that he reaggravated on Sunday against the Denver Nuggets, the Phoenix Suns announced on Wednesday.

Booker only played four minutes in the Christmas matchup in Denver before exiting with a left groin strain.

He entered that game after being listed with groin soreness that kept him out of the three games prior. Booker had also dealt with a hamstring issue that knocked him out of two games in mid-December. He returned from that injury for two games before the groin issue sidelined him.

Booker was sent back to Phoenix for re-evaluation and was not with the team Tuesday as the Suns beat the Memphis Grizzlies.

Phoenix has four more games on their current East Coast road trip: against Washington, Toronto, New York and Cleveland.

Booker missing four weeks from Wednesday would put his earliest return around Jan. 25.

This season, he is averaging a career-high 27.1 points per game. Booker scored 58 in his last full game, a Dec. 17 win against the New Orleans Pelicans in which he played 42 minutes and the entire second half.

On Tuesday against the Grizzlies, the Suns started two centers, Deandre Ayton and Jock Landale, to make up for the lack of shooting guards as Booker and Landry Shamet were both out with injuries.

Josh Okogie, Duane Washington Jr. and Damion Lee will presumably continue with larger rotation roles.
