The Arizona Coyotes made several moves before the trade deadline with a focus on their future, but the present-day version of the team is nothing to fix your gaze upon for too long.

Tuesday’s home game against the mighty Anaheim Ducks was a reminder of the state of the Coyotes franchise.

Arizona went into the third period down by just one goal, but the Pacific Division-leading Ducks flexed their muscles over the final 20 minutes.

The result was a 4-1 Ducks win at Gila River Arena. Andrew Cogliano scored two goals and Jakob Silfverberg put in one goal and assisted two others in Anaheim’s third straight victory.

Arizona was handed its 10th consecutive loss, falling to 20-37-7 on the season — still just one point ahead of Edmonton for the worst spot in the Western Conference.

Here’s a look at Tuesday’s contest, by the numbers:

6

Center Mark Arcobello continued his efficiency in his short time with the Coyotes, notching an assist on Arizona’s lone goal Tuesday. It was just the 26-year-old center’s first assist in a Coyotes uniform, but it was his sixth point in only nine appearances with the team. The third-year pro recorded 14 assists last year with Edmonton, and he now has eight this year between four teams.

7-1-4

The Coyotes lost in regulation for the first time this season when Tobias Rieder records a point. The 22-year-old center notched his ninth goal of the year in the second period, his first point since Feb. 3. Previously, Arizona was 4-0-3 when the rookie scores a goal and 7-0-4 when he records a point.

9

Not only has Arizona lost a franchise-tying 10 straight contests, but it is on a nine-game home losing streak as well, even though six of the losses during the current skid have been on the road. The Coyotes haven’t won in Glendale since Jan. 8, and they have a league-worst nine victories at home this season.

18

It was a testy matchup between the two clubs, who combined for 18 penalty in minutes — with 11 going Anaheim’s way. Shane Doan and Ryan Getzlaf were each assessed a five-minute major for fighting in the second period, and several other players nearly came to blows from that point forward. The Coyotes, however, won the hits battle: 30-19.

19

The Coyotes’ Doan and Sam Gagner both came into the game with 12 goals and 18 assists apiece, but Gagner moved ahead with an assist on Rieder’s second-period tally. The 25-year-old Gagner is now tied with Oliver Ekman-Larsson for the third-most points on the Coyotes this season (counting two players who have since been traded), and his 19 assists are the fourth-highest total on the team.

37:13

Two new acquisitions via trades made their debuts Tuesday for the Coyotes. Defensemen John Moore and Klas Dahlbeck combined for 37 minutes and 13 seconds of time on ice. They both took one shot on goal, but neither registered a point.

.912

Goaltender Mike Smith had one of his better games, posting a .912 save percentage (31 saves on 34 shots against him), but it was not nearly enough for a win. Anaheim’s final goal was an empty netter while shorthanded, the last of two goals at a disadvantage. Smith’s record fell to 10-31-5 with the defeat. Frederik Andersen, meanwhile, had a stellar game for the Ducks, stopping 29 of the 30 shots that came his way.
