Suns’ Jordan Ott finishes top 5 in Coach of the Year voting

Phoenix Suns head coach Jordan Ott received enough votes for the NBA Coach of the Year award to finish fifth in the results dropped on Tuesday.

Ott received eight third-place votes and one second-place vote from 100 media members to finish just behind Charles Lee of the Charlotte Hornets and ahead of Mark Daigneault of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla won the award with 62 out of 100 first-place votes, followed by J.B. Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons and Mitch Johnson of the San Antonio Spurs.

A global media panel of 100 voters selected the 2025-26 NBA Coach of the Year.

Ott joined the Suns last offseason as a first-year coach and helped steer the team to an unexpected playoff berth as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference.

The Suns won 45 games in the regular season to enter the Play-In Tournament as the No. 7 seed. They lost to the Portland Trail Blazers and then defeated the Golden State Warriors to earn a trip back to the playoffs after missing them in 2024-25 under head coach Mike Budenholzer.

Under Ott, the Suns were a top-five team in offensive rebounds (13), deflections (20.2) and steals per game (9.5), considered hustle stats. They allowed the sixth-fewest points per game in the league (111.1), as well.

Ott was named the Western Conference Coach of the Month for January, the first Suns head coach to do so since Monty Williams in November 2022.
