LSU cancels home-and-home series with ASU

The LSU Tigers have canceled a home-and-home series with the Arizona State Sun Devils, according to On3’s Brett McMurphy.

The series was expected to kick off at LSU in 2029 before heading to Tempe in 2030.

According to multiple reports, the cancellation was mutually agreed to. LSU will also not have to pay a cancellation fee, which was part of the original agreement.

The move comes with the SEC moving to a nine-game schedule and follows Florida’s decision last year to cancel its future series with ASU.

That home-and-home series was slated for 2028 and 2031 and was agreed to in 2019.

ASU and LSU first played against each other in 2005, a 35-31 loss for the Sun Devils in Tempe. The two sides then agreed to a home-and-home series for 2015 and 2016, though that was eventually pushed back to 2029 and 2030.

The Sun Devils have one SEC matchup slated for this season with a Sept. 12 game against Texas A&M. ASU also opens up the season against nonconference opponent Morgan State (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference).
