Cardinals GM: Marvin Harrison Jr. ‘is a big part of what we’re doing’ despite trade chatter

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has been the focus of trade chatter recently. Where does the franchise stand with the wideout?

The Marvin Harrison Jr. trade rumors have ramped up in recent weeks thanks to his lack of production and limited involvement in the Arizona Cardinals offense.

General manager Monti Ossenfort, however, says the wide receiver remains very much in Arizona’s plans as they prepare for the Detroit Lions.

“I think this time of year, and really all throughout the year, there’s a lot of talk. There’s a lot of stuff that’s written out there. I think really in the end, like, Marv is a big part of what we’re doing,” Ossenfort told Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke on Friday. “He’s focused 100% on trying to get better, helping our team creating explosive plays, putting points on the board.

“And so, with respect to all the stuff that’s written out there, we’re excited to move forward and really not pay any credence to any of that.”

Ossenfort added he talks to his players every day when asked about having dialogue with guys whose names are thrown around in trade rumors.

His words come after Harrison said he was paying no mind to all the chatter attached to him.

It was also reported Thursday that Harrison hired two agents last month after not having one previously.

Despite Ossenfort’s comments, the Harrison chatter likely isn’t going away anytime soon.

The wide receiver currently ranks fifth on the team in targets and has just five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

He’s been an afterthought in an offense that was supposed to utilize his skill set much more under the tutelage of head coach Mike LaFleur.

This week presents an opportunity for a turnaround, however, given how rough the Lions have looked defensively.

Throw MARV the DARN ball!!

This is a QB issue and gameplan issue! How on earth is the kid supposed to show out if he’s not even getting LOOKED at?? Cause he truly is not.. Brisset chooses where the ball is going before the ball is even snapped, and pay attention cause that helmet is NOT turning in Marvs direction at all!

And I actually give the kid credit. He has dealt with this like a pro! All other loud mouth Primas would be throwing a tantrum and creating a distraction.. And he’s still so young at 24! We are 4-2 when he has 70 Yds or more receiving!

Go back to those final 4 plays vs the giants.. We have a 6’5 long armed lengthy top 5 WR, and we don’t even try to let him high point a ball?
