Losing Cole is a tough break for the Wildcats as he has played in all seven games this season, registering 22 tackles, four passes defensed and a forced fumble.
Cole was part of a lengthy availability report that saw several players on the initial report ahead of Saturday’s game.
Arizona wide receivers Giovanni Richardson and Chris Hunter were listed as questionable. Richardson and Hunter have been out for the last two games after exiting with injuries against Cincinnati on Oct. 3.
Richardson and Hunter’s potential returns could be a big boost for Arizona’s offense, with wide receiver Tre Spivey out for the season with a broken foot.
Running back Ismail Mahdi and linebacker Max Harris were also listed as questionable, as both players could potentially return Saturday after an emergency appeal was filed over their eligibility, according to On3’s Jason Scheer. They have both not played the Wildcats’ last three games after being ruled ineligible by a court ahead of the Cincinnati game.
Tight end Cole Rusk was listed as doubtful.
Texas Tech’s availability report vs. Arizona
For the Red Raiders, there were also several players on the report, most notably running back Cameron Dickey, who was listed as questionable.
Dickey has missed the last two games for Texas Tech with a high ankle sprain. The junior running back has rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns in five games this season.
Head coach Joey McGuire said Monday during his weekly press conference that the Red Raiders expect to have Cameron Dickey back on the field for this weekend’s game against Arizona in Galaxy Stadium.
“He should be good to go. He practiced yesterday. … He’s been cleared to practice tomorrow. … It’s going to be good to have him back, just another guy that’s been in some big games,” McGuire said.
Dickey was one of six Texas Tech players listed as questionable.
Safety Peyton Morgan, tight end Terrance Carter Jr., linebacker Ben Roberts and outside linebacker Charles Anderson Jr. were listed as probable. Wide receiver Jalen Jones was the lone Texas Tech player listed as out.
