The Arizona Coyotes find themselves in the playoff picture in large part due to the play of goalie Louis Domingue, who on Monday was named the NHL Rookie of the Month for January.

The 23-year-old went 6-3-2 in the month, posting a 2.20 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. He also notched one shutout, in a Jan. 9 win over Nashville. It was his second shutout of the season, making him the second rookie goaltender to register multiple shutouts in one season after Robert Esche had two in 2000-01.

A fifth-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Domingue has appeared in 24 career NHL games, in which he has gone 9-5-3 with a 2.31 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

The Coyotes will resume play following the All-Star break Feb. 2 at home against the Los Angeles Kings. Arizona is 24-20-5, and with 53 points sits at No. 9 in the Western Conference.
