Former Arizona Wildcats linebacker Scooby Wright improved his draft stock at the Wildcats’ pro day on Thursday.

According to CBSSports.com, Wright improved his 40-yard time from last month’s NFL Combine performance by shaving off a 0.10 of a second — from 4.9 seconds at the combine to the low 4.8s and high 4.7s at Arizona Stadium.

“I don’t see how he gets out of the second day,” Wright’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told the Tucson media.

Currently, NFLDraftScout.com has Wright projected as a fourth-round selection, possibility going late in the round.

In addition to his improvement in the 40-yard dash, Wright also increased his vertical jump from 31 inches to 35 inches.

According to CBS.Sports, the performance should alleviate some fears that Wright isn’t athletic enough to be an impactful NFL player.

“All we really wanted to accomplish was to have some good numbers,” Rosenhaus said. “Getting down to under 4.8 was really good for him. A productive day. … I think coming out of this workout, he definitely helped himself.”

As a sophomore, Wright had 163 tackles and 14 sacks while racking up numerous defensive player honors, including the Nagurski, Bednarik and Lombardi awards. However, he was sidelined a majority of of his junior season after injuring his knee in the season opener and then injuring his foot upon his return.

Wright recovered in time for the New Mexico Bowl, where he tallied 15 tackles before declaring for the draft immediately following the Wildcats’ win.
