PHOENIX SUNS

Video series gives inside look at relationship between Devin Booker and Tyson Chandler

The Phoenix Suns’ 2015-16 was one to forget.

The team won just 23 games, fired coach Jeff Hornacek early in the season and traded disgruntled forward Markieff Morris, who just one year prior was viewed as one of the team’s building blocks.

However, there was a bright spot in the campaign in the form of rookie Devin Booker, who averaged 13.8 points per game and saw his role grow over the course of the season. In March, for instance, he averaged 22.4 points and 4.9 assists per game, and gave glimpses of potentially being a franchise-type player.

As bright a spot as Booker was, though, the same cannot really be said for Tyson Chandler. The veteran signed a four-year c, $52 million contract over the summer and while he was not bad, the 7.2 points and 8.7 rebounds he averaged were his lowest in those categories since the 2009-10 season, and he was limited to 66 games due to injuries.

Still, Chandler was looked at as one of the team’s leaders, and part of that meant being a mentor for the 19-year-old Booker.

Fortunately for us, thanks to Steve Nash and the Players’ Tribune, we got an inside look at the dynamic between young Booker and elder Chandler in a video series titled “Rookie/Vet.” The final episode dropped Wednesday, but in case you missed them (or want to watch them again), here is the entire series for your viewing pleasure.
