The Phoenix Suns continued their draft workouts Friday morning. This edition had a mix of options for the 13th and 28th in the first round and the 34th selection in the second round.

Vanderbilt guard Wade Baldwin IV:

Draft Express Ranking: 15th overall prospect

Relevant Statistics: Excellent length for a point guard with a 6’11.25″ wingspan and he made 42 percent of his threes on 199 attempts. Baldwin IV struggled finishing at the rim, shooting 50.4 percent according to Hoop-Math.

Quote:  “If you look at Vanderbilt’s team they have a couple seven-footers down on the block. There’s probably less space with guys like Damian Jones and Luke Kornet although Kornet stretches the floor pretty well. I think that will be a point of emphasis for him, finishing, going to the basket.  With his size, length, athleticism, I don’t think that will be a problem with more reps.” — Suns general manager Ryan McDonough on Baldwin’s low shooting percentage at the rim.

Saint Joseph’s DeAndre’ Bembry

Draft Express Ranking: 28th overall prospect

Relevant Statistics: Bembry was a stat sheet stuffer with the Hawks, averaging 17.4 points, 4.5 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game as a junior.  His three-point shooting did regress over his three seasons. As a freshman he shot 34.6 percent from deep and that dropped all the way to 26.6 percent this past season.

Quote:  “Versatility, that’s where the NBA is leaning towards, that’s what I’ve heard. Being able to guard one through three or play one through three offensively, definitely use that as an advantage.” — DeAndre’ Bembry on his ability to play multiple positions

Virginia guard Malcolm Brogdon

Draft Express ranking: 41st overall prospect

Relevant Statistics: Brogdon is an older prospect at the age of 23 having played four years of college ball. He has good length for a wing and is best known for his defense, but also has some offensive skills. Brogdon shot 36.5 percent from three on 509 attempts during his time with the Cavaliers. He improved his assist to turnover ratio as a senior dishing out 3.1 dimes per game and only giving the ball away 1.4 times.

Quote:  “Being able to keep your man in front of you, not getting straight line driven. Knowing your position, being able to play defense off the ball. I think that’s one of the hardest things for guys to do is to keep vision on their man while also being in the gap helping their teammates.” — Malcolm Brogdon on how his defense at Virginia will transfer to the NBA.

The other three players at the workout were Oklahoma guard Isaiah Cousins, Florida forward Dorian Finney-Smith and Boise State forward James Webb III. All three are expected to either be taken in the second round or go undrafted.
