In the 2016 NBA Draft, The Suns selected Dragan Bender with the fourth pick and Marquese Chriss with the eighth after trading with the Sacramento Kings.
In the 2016 NBA Draft, the Suns selected Dragan Bender with the fourth pick and Marquese Chriss with the eighth after trading for the No. 8 choice.
Like Chriss, the 18 year-old, 7-foot-1 Bender will help the Suns fill their need at the forward position.
Although the Croatian hasn’t played in America, his size and ball-handling skills alone could translate to the NBA where he can play multiple positions and cause a mismatch with his opponents. He can shoot from the perimeter and he can post up down-low.
As a 6-foot-9-inch forward out of Washington, Chriss was able to make his mark freshman year for the Huskies. He averaged 13.7 points a game with 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in his only year with UW.
He ranks fourth in UW freshman history with 467 points and closed with the most blocks for a freshman (55).
The highlights below show each players strengths and how they could translate to the NBA.
