Phoenix Suns guard Luke Kennard left the Suns’ preseason game against the San Antonio Spurs with an apparent left leg injury Wednesday.
Kennard landed awkwardly on a drive to the basket, then immediately hobbled off to the Suns locker room during the second quarter.
The Suns ruled Kennard out as the second half began. They could’ve just been playing things safe based on how the team handled Miles Bridges’ minor injury during a preseason game.
After the game, head coach Jordan Ott described Kennard’s injury as a “sore left knee.”
Per Coach Ott:
Luke Kennard experienced a sore left knee. The team will see how he responds tomorrow.
He talked to Kennard postgame and he seemed to be in good spirits.

Kennard is new to Phoenix this season, arriving via free agency on a two-year, $13 million deal. A 3-point specialist, his sharpshooting is expected to be a crucial quality for a team that lost Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale during the offseason.
Kennard led the NBA in 3-point percentage last season (47.8%) and in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.
During this preseason, Kennard was averaging 12.3 points per game, making 5 of his 14 3-point attempts (35.7%). Against the Spurs on Saturday, he scored a team-high 20 points.
The Suns regular season begins on Oct. 21 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Here we go. An Arizona sports team with a shiny new piece get hurt. Why does that keep happening across all Arizona sports?
Can we put these porcelain dolls away until the first week of the season, please?
It's clear that once you get passed the starting five, this team is doomed. I'd like to have at least a game or two before these clowns all end up laid up.
