The Phoenix Suns are signing guard Luke Kennard to a two-year, $13 million deal, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Charania added that the second year is a player option.
The signing rounds out Phoenix’s roster and comes days after the team traded for Miles Bridges in a deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
Kennard appeared in 78 games (six starts) between the Atlanta Hawks (46 games) and Los Angeles Lakers (32). The sharpshooter paced the league in 3-point shooting percentage 47.8% on 3.1 attempts per game.
He added 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists per game.
In 10 playoff games this past season, Kennard shot 47.4% from deep. He chipped in 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Kennard has led the league in shooting percentage three times in his career after doing so in back-to-back seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23. He’s shooting 46% from 3-point land across the last five seasons.
The guard entered the league as a 2017 first-round pick (No. 12 overall) by the Detroit Pistons.
He spent three seasons with Detroit (2017-20) before playing for the Los Angeles Clippers (2020-23), Memphis Grizzlies (2023-25), Hawks (2025-26) and Lakers (2025-26).
Kennard now provides Phoenix with another perimeter shooter following the departures of Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale in the deal to acquire Bridges. He joins a backcourt that includes Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Collin Gillespie.
Phoenix has, for the most part, focused on retaining its own free agents this offseason. It re-signed Gillespie, Jordan Goodwin and Mark Williams before picking up Jamaree Bouyea’s team option.

Kennard gonna be taking all kinds of money from Booker in those 3pt shooting contests they have during practice.
Luke is streaky. He’s also a defensive liability. good coming off the bench, but he’s not always gonna be a spark plug. we need a point guard who can shoot the three. We still lack a point guard and three-point shooting in the starting five. trade Jalen Green for Josh Giddey. Make it happen. Then I’ll be happy with this lineup.
Not withstanding the immense work that the existing players need to do this summer. you know who you are and what you need to work on. you should be doing 8 hours a day. Work harder than the next guy. Earn your paycheck.
Also, please stay out of jail.
This is the classic NBA move of signing one white guy that shoots 3 pointers to replace the other white guy 3 point shooter that you traded but for a better percentage.
