Suns pick up Jamaree Bouyea’s team option, per report

The Phoenix Suns are picking up the team option on backup guard Jamaree Bouyea’s contract, according to Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto.

Scotto adds the deal is worth $2.6 million non-guaranteed in 2026-27.

Phoenix had until Monday to pick up Bouyea’s option.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 5.7 points and 1.8 assists in 14.0 minutes per game, filling gaps when the Suns were without guards Devin Booker, Jalen Green and Grayson Allen throughout the season.

Bouyea brought a downhill, on-ball presence on offense and some disruption at the point of attack on defense. His speed with the ball and smooth scoring abilities were efficient (46%) and at a decent volume in the limited playing time.

NBA free agency officially opens Tuesday afternoon.

Phoenix re-signed Collin Gillespie, Jordan Goodwin and Mark Williams — in that order this offseason and also traded up in the NBA Draft to add Arizona Wildcats product Koa Peat.

The Suns then added Miles Bridges and draft capital on Sunday in a trade that shipped out Allen, Royce O’Neale and an unprotected 2033 first-round pick.

Bouyea joined the Suns initially on a two-way contract last season before it was converted to a standard deal in March.

His 46 games played were a career-high for the 26-year-old, as he had only 19 combined across five other teams before joining Phoenix.
