Manny Wilkins will be out and Brady White will be the starting quarterback Saturday when Arizona State hosts UCLA.

That news was expected all week and on Friday Sun Devil coach Todd Graham made it official when he spoke to Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Doug and Wolf.

“He’s a day-to-day type of situation and is obviously very doubtful and won’t play this week,” Graham said. “I think he has a chance to play the next week or maybe the one after that. It’s going to be a week-to-week kind of deal.”

Wilkins was helped off the field last week during ASU’s 41-20 loss to USC. He returned to the sidelines in a walking boot, but was no longer in the boot by Monday during practice.

Graham said on Monday that x-rays came back negative, which was a good sign as the Sun Devils hope to have him back in time for their game at Colorado on Oct. 15 or their home game on Oct. 22 against Washington State.

“The way his leg got bent up underneath him I was really concerned. It was very awkward,” Graham said. “We got a good report and there is no extensive damage.”

Through five games this season, Wilkins has completed 97 of 149 passes for 1,223 yards and five touchdowns. Now the attention will turn to White, who for the season has completed 6 of 13 passes for 80 yards and one touchdown. The Sun Devils will UCLA at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The Bruins defeated Arizona 45-24 last week at the Rose Bowl.
