Fans take issue with Big 12 basketball tournament’s new glass floor court

The Big 12 women’s basketball tournament tipped off on Wednesday at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, with its brand-new glass floor court that didn’t go over well with fans.

The court, which will also be used for the men’s basketball tournament from March 10–14, features an LED glass floor with a Big 12 tournament logo in the center and with Philips 66 logos on each side of the court.

The technology also allows for different court designs that can be changed with a swipe of a finger, as well as the ability to display shot charts and interactive games.

The new court’s technology was previously used for the 2024 NBA All-Star game.

The floor has some drawbacks, as it appears the half-court line is in the middle of one of the logos, which could be hard to see.

One major design flaw (so far) is there’s no halfcourt line during the game except for in the logo, which is tough to see.

The court looked to be already in rough condition on Day 1 of play, as a panel looked to be broken.

Basketball fans’ reaction on X were mainly negative toward the new court.

The Big 12 has a digital court for their conference basketball tournaments, and could have made it look like whatever they wanted.
