Budda Baker jumps great lengths in case for Madden NFL 23 rating bump

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker tried his best to get his jump rating in Madden NFL 23 up a couple of ticks.

If I was a professional football player, which I am not nor will I ever be, I would be upset by my rating on Madden every year.

The thing to understand is it goes beyond just the “overall rating.” Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker thinks he should be a 99. He’s a 92 on Madden NFL 23.

But that overall rating comes as a sum of 51 individual ratings that are weighted based on the position the player is at. For someone like Baker, things like his “play recognition rating,” “pursuit rating” and “zone coverage rating” are going to heavily factor in.

So, to go back to the being pissed off part, you can imagine how easy it would be for someone like Baker to see his “tackle rating” at 75 and be perturbed.

The folks over at Madden had some fun with this in an advertisement for the newest iteration, Madden NFL 23.

Baker’s jumping rating of 86 needs to get a bump after Baker jumped 13 flights of stairs (yes, I counted them).

So, an 86 jumping rating plus 13 flights of stairs equals the max 99 rating. Obviously.

I hope that was on purpose.
