The Arizona Cardinals stood between a hopeful bride and the presidential suite she was eyeing for months ahead of her October wedding day.

After hearing from hotel staff that the suite is reserved for visiting NFL teams and typically for the head coaches, Olivia Coppeletti was in desperation mode. She reached out to the team, hoping that first-year coach Mike LaFleur would be sympathetic to her cause.

“I am respectfully submitting what may be the most ridiculous request you receive all season,” she wrote in an email. “If you are not planning to use that suite … would you consider letting a desperate bride have a chance to book it?

“To be clear, I fully understand that football is more important than my wedding morning. The Cardinals have a game to win. I have hair and makeup to get done. Different priorities.”

Team owner Michael Bidwill revealed to Coppeletti that not only was the suite booked for himself ahead of the Cardinals facing the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 4, but that he would give it up to Coppeletti for all her preparations.

“I looked into it. The situation’s a little complicated,” Bidwill said in a video posted to social media. “The suite you requested wasn’t reserved for the coach of the Cardinals, but rather the owner of the Cardinals.

“The good news is, that’s me and I’m happy to give it up to you and your bridesmaids to use during your wedding weekend. Congrats and enjoy your special day.”

Coppeletti’s email leveraged three things in exchange for the suite:

  1. Her eternal gratitude
  2. The satisfaction of making her year
  3. An open invitation to stop by her wedding venue after the game for a celebratory drink (or several) if they happen to find themselves across the street.

In a video response to Bidwill, she and groom-to-be John also said the Cardinals have gained two lifelong fans.

“It’s really unbelievable, I can’t believe that you’re allowing us to use that suite,” Coppeletti said. “We just wanted to say thank you so much. We are so excited for our wedding, and this is just going to make it even more special.”
