It appears Sparky has started his trek toward Mountain America Stadium. Queue AC/DC’s Thunderstruck.

A haboob plowed through the Valley on Monday evening, and Arizona State football posted an epic time lapse of the massive dust storm blowing through the stadium five days before Saturday’s season opener.

ASU athletic director Graham Rossini added the not-so-fun tidbit that the stadium’s staff had just washed the bowl seating earlier Monday.

The late-summer haboob perhaps best signals that ASU football season is here, considering Sparky brings the storm with him before stomping on the opposing bus to kick off every home game in Tempe.

The No. 11 Sun Devils will take on Northern Arizona Saturday night at 7 p.m. MST to open a highly anticipated season after their College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.

Hopefully no dust storms impact the game itself, as a haboob delayed head coach Kenny Dillingham’s debut during the 2023 season opener against Southern Utah.

Shout out to the videographers who braved the elements:

Wow . . . It's NAU for (bleep)-sake! If the Devils don't win by four touchdowns or more, they're looking past the Jacks, and thinking about their much tougher trip to Starkville. It was Oscar Wilde, who said, "Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative". Time for the Devils to take care of business on Saturday night.
