Kimmel’s ‘Lie Witness News’: LA Kings win Stanley Cup

In Jimmy Kimmel's segment of 'Lie Witness News' LA Kings fans celebrate winning the Stanley Cup.

Jimmy Kimmel’s segment of “Lie Witness News” tricked Los Angeles Kings “fans” who are excited about the Stanley Cup championship coming to Los Angeles, despite the fact that it’s not.

In reality, the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games to win the Stanley Cup.

The segment took to the streets of Los Angeles to take in the buzz surrounding the Kings’ championship.

The Stanley Cup Edition of “Lie Witness News” begins with a man who seemed very excited to get his minute of fame (or shame) on television. The interviewer asked him if he was excited about the victory, in which he responded, “Excited? Well, I think I’m very excited. I’m pretty sure the rest of my family is because we are huge hockey fans.”

He’s then asked if his hockey-loving family was able to catch the series-clinching game together.

“We couldn’t, but we listened to it on the radio,” he said.

The interviewer wanted more details of the family’s experience and asked, “so, you’re listening to it on the radio, you’re hearing the play-by-play and you’re getting excited. What’s going on?”

He stuttered at first before saying, “well… It’s kind of hard to describe because there was just so many things going on at the same time. But, what I can tell you from one word is just… Pandamonium.”

Later in the segment, a lady comes onto the scream and exclaims, “Go Kings! 2016 Stanley Cup victors!”

The interviewer, who has to be ecstatic to find yet another Kings’ die-hard, asks, “you’re a big hockey fan?”

“Oh, yes,” she responded.

She’s then asked if she watches every game and she says two simple words to describe just how often she supports her team: season tickets.

The segment ends with a young boy, who is asked if he caught any of the Kings game the night before.

The boy, with a confused look on his face, said, “they didn’t play.”

At least someone will know better than to show up for the non-existent championship parade.
