Sign us up for whatever workout regiment Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is on, because the man known for his unparalleled feel for the game as much as his pudgy physique has not been messing around the past three months.

There had been mentions of the All-Star big man losing weight since the coronavirus pandemic suspended the 2019-20 NBA season on March 11. Last week, teammate Jamal Murray said that Jokic had abs. That was notable.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone added that he believed the center was now a “lean, mean fighting machine.” And on Thursday, there was evidence.

It started with a video. Then came the still shot.

Denver fans should certainly be excited.

The Nuggets will enter an eight-game regular season restart planned for the end of July standing third place in the Western Conference. At 43-22 so far this season, they have a talented and deep young roster led by Jokic and Murray that some people believe could challenge the Lakers and Clippers in a seven-game series.

NBA fans, though, should be excited, too. Jokic was averaging 20.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game after entering the year a little bit on the heavy side. Presumably, being a little bit lighter and in shape should help him.

We can already tell they are excited because of the memes.
