Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll to play for Team USA in 2026 World Baseball Classic

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll will play for Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Team USA head coach Mark DeRosa announced on Thursday at the MLB Awards that Carroll, along with Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, would play for the U.S.

“It was not a hard decision,” Carroll said on Thursday. “I couldn’t be more excited. This is going to be awesome.”

Carroll and Crow-Armstrong join New York Yankees and American League MVP Aaron Judge, Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. and Pittsburgh Pirates ace and National League Cy Young award winner Paul Skenes as players to commit to play for Team USA so far.

Carroll is coming off a strong 2025 campaign, slashing .259/.343/.541, while setting career highs in home runs (31) and RBIs (84). For his efforts, he won his first-career Silver Slugger award. He finished seventh in NL MVP voting.

The 2026 World Baseball classic begins on March 5 and will run through March 17 prior to the 2026 MLB season. Team USA is in Pool B and will play Brazil, Great Britain, Mexico and Italy in group play at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas.

The 2026 World Baseball classic will be sixth edition of the tournament. Japan is the defending champions after winning the last event in 2023 and has won the tournament three times.
