Lars Nootbaar to lead off for D-backs; Nolan Arenado, Ketel Marte get day off

Lars Nootbaar will lead off for the Arizona Diamondbacks and play left field against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday, while Nolan Arenado and Ketel Marte will each get the day off.

After coming over in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals, Nootbaar played DH and was 0-for-2 with two walks in his Diamondbacks debut on Tuesday,

Arizona Sports‘ John Gambadoro reported the Arenado and Marte lineup omissions were done “in an effort to keep key players fresh for the final 47-game stretch.”

Marte was 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Tuesday’s loss, while Arenado was 1-for-4 with a HR.
