MLB All-Star voting check-in: Corbin Carroll, Nolan Arenado both fall in standings

Thousands upon thousands of additional votes have been cast for who will take part in the 2026 MLB All-Star game, and Diamondbacks Corbin Carroll and Nolan Arenado are running out of time to make the cut in Phase 1.

Carroll fell two places to 10th among National League outfielders on Monday with 713,392 votes, needing to be ranked in the top six by 9 a.m. MST on Thursday to move onto Phase 2 of voting for All-Star game starters.

The 25-year-old star will have to make up nearly 250,000 votes by the deadline to become eligible to start in Philadelphia on July 14. New York Mets’ Juan Soto sits at sixth with 947,033 votes, with Washington Nationals’ James Wood (915,287), St. Louis Cardinals’ Jordan Walker (860,670) and Los Angeles Dodgers’ Kyle Tucker (766,071) rounding out those positioned ahead of Carroll.

The Diamondbacks’ right fielder leads the NL in triples (nine) with his nearly unmatched speed and he is sporting the 11th-best batting average (.281) among NL outfielders. His OPS entering Monday night against the Cardinals is third best (.917).

Arizona’s next closest All-Star starter this season is third baseman Arenado, who also dropped a bit in the latest Phase 1 voting update, now fourth at 556,009 votes from third last week. Position players need to be in the top two of voting to move onto Phase 2.

Dodgers’ Max Muncy leads NL third basemen at 1,933,390 votes, ahead of second-place Philadelphia Phillie Alec Bohm (804,309).

Arenado has tallied 31 RBIs this year, for the tied for the sixth most amongst his position group and he has also drawn the eighth-most walks (23) during a campaign he is slashing .239/.316/.387.

Where do other Diamondbacks rank in latest MLB All-Star voting?

Second baseman Ketel Marte moved up a place to sixth (553,091 votes), just in front of Pittsburgh Pirates’ Brandon Lowe (472,879).

The three-time All-Star (2019, 2024-25) needs to make up nearly 250,000 votes on second-place Phillie Bryson Stott (801,006) by Thursday morning.

Despite a sluggish start to the season, Marte’s batting average has reached .259 entering Monday (tied for sixth among NL second baseman) and he is fourth in hits (76).

Catcher Gabriel Moreno remained eighth in the standings (187,668), trailing former D-back, now-Chicago Cub Carson Kelly by about 15,000 votes (202,386).

Ildemaro Vargas, a versatile infielder receiving votes at first base, fell two spots to ninth with 147,214. He has cooled off significantly with a bat in his hands since being named National League Player of the Month in April. He is slashing .263/.305/.408 entering Monday’s game.

Phase 2 of voting begins at 9 a.m. on June 29 and lasts through July 2 at 9 a.m. The player with the most Phase 1 votes is automatically named a starter and bypasses the second wave of voting.
