Suns’ Grayson Allen, Jalen Green out vs. Hawks

Suns guards Grayson Allen and Jalen Green have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Allen (right quadriceps contusion) picked up the injury during the second quarter of Thursday’s win over the Pacers and did not return.

Suns coach Jordan Ott said at Saturday’s practice he does not believe Allen’s injury is anything serious, and they are labeling him as “day-to-day.”

“We’ll continue to see how he gets out of this,” Ott told reporters. “We’ll stick to day-to-day. We just walked through a lot today. Nothing up and down, nothing live. It’s good to have these two days in between. We need it. It doesn’t seem too bad.”

After Allen bumped knees with Pacers center Jay Huff Thursday, the Suns guard was seen visibly limping before he went to the locker room.

Collin Gillespie started the second half in place of Allen. Allen has played in all 13 of the Suns’ games this season up to this point.

“Anytime you lose a really good player, I think you have to make some type of adjustment,” Ott said Saturday.

“Grayson impacts us on both ends, especially in the halfcourt offensively. His gravity but also his ability to put the ball on the floor and playmake, so I think that is gonna be something that we just continue to grow organically throughout our team. Without Jalen, we just need to find another way at times to create the first domino.”

On Tuesday, it was announced Green will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks after he reaggravated his right hamstring strain in last Saturday’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Green strained the same hamstring during training camp and then later reaggravated it in China. He ended up missing the Suns’ first eight games of the season before returning to play in two games against the Clippers.

For the Hawks, Trae Young (right MCL sprain) remains out for Atlanta. The four-time All-Star got hurt in a game on Oct. 29 and was later ruled out at least four weeks.
